Cop Rescued Kitten, Several Days Later He Was Flooded With Marriage Proposals
Police officer Cody Garrett of Spartanburg, South Carolina knew that a photo of himself posing with his newly rescued kitten was cute. He just didn’t know how cute until it went viral over internet.
Marriage proposals flooded in when an unexpected just-for-fun pose went viral over internet. The 28-year-old-cop, Garrett was dubbed a “crime-fighting duo” by a social media. (denied by Garret of over claim through HuffPost)
Garrett adopted the kitten, whom he named Squirt, after he and another officer found her in a dumpster.
The kitten was discovered during a heavy rain just before a small flash flood. “We probably saved her life” said Garrett. He added “She is the smallest kitten I’ve ever seen”.
Garrett decided to bring her home and try to adopt her into his own cat named Toothless who has just given birth., and it worked well. Toothless treated her as one of her own kittens.
And why the name “Squirt?” It’s not because the kitten was just so small, but because shortly after bringing her home, the kitten had a bit of a gross accident…
Garrett’s long time girlfriend is not too concerned about the abundance of “marry me’s” as he said, “She knows I love her.”
As much as Garret is not looking for romantic attention, he does hope that more people will have a better perception about cops.
He explains, “Police officers aren’t the enemy. We do have families like everyone else, we like rescuing animals, play video games and not like what you tend to see over the news.”
